Hello, my name is Susanne Watson and I am one of Hertfordshire’s most experienced piano teachers with a BA honours degree, ALCM Diploma and the Associated Board of Music’s teaching qualification. I am also a member of the European Piano Teachers Association. Lessons take place in my beautiful room in Lower Stondon, just 10 minutes from Hitchin.

[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner row_type=”row” type=”full_width” text_align=”left” css_animation=””][vc_column_inner offset=”vc_hidden-lg vc_hidden-md vc_hidden-sm”][vc_single_image image=”521″ img_size=”full” style=”vc_box_shadow” qode_css_animation=”element_from_fade” css=”.vc_custom_1528741179927{padding-top: 40px !important;padding-bottom: 40px !important;}”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner row_type=”row” type=”full_width” text_align=”left” css_animation=”” css=”.vc_custom_1528741201480{padding-top: 40px !important;}”][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]

With over 20 years’ experience of both music theory and practice, I have taught privately and in schools. Children can begin playing as soon as they have some reading ability and adult beginners, or those returning to the piano after a gap are always welcome.

Read more about my approach on the Lessons page.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern” background_color=”rgba(183,188,191,0.62)” side_padding=”15″ z_index=”” css=”.vc_custom_1528741741798{padding-bottom: 80px !important;}”][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1527463723202{padding-top: 80px !important;padding-bottom: 40px !important;}”]

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Lessons vary according to level (if taking exams) but are typically half an hour for beginners, forty-five minutes for intermediate players and an hour for advanced players.

I teach children from around the age of five and adults of any age or ability. For those wishing to take exams, I am happy to teach Associated Board and Trinity College exam syllabuses up to Grade 8, as well as Associated Board theory. Find out more information about lessons, my fees, prices and a trial lesson.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″ css=”.vc_custom_1528548513710{padding-bottom: 40px !important;}”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1528295066838{padding-top: 80px !important;padding-bottom: 40px !important;}” el_id=”myapproach”]

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]My student-centred approach is grounded in the study of how children learn. I provide calm and positive lessons with lots of praise that enhance the feeling of achievement.

Research has shown that children who learn to play a musical instrument, reach a higher level of attainment in wider education. They do better at school.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern” background_color=”#6d98bf” side_padding=”15″ z_index=””][vc_column width=”1/4″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_row_inner row_type=”row” type=”full_width” text_align=”left” css_animation=””][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1527462150832{padding-top: 80px !important;padding-bottom: 80px !important;}”]

Lessons
